The Phillies started out there west coast trip this week on the right foot and beat the defense-less Diamondbacks 6-2. Jamie Moyer pitched 6 2/3 innings not allowing a run and striking out 5. Watching the game last night it seemed like every inning Moyer had runners on base or even the bases loaded but the crafty lefty did what he always does and got the job done. Ryan Howard got things going in the 4th inning with a 2 run blast(26th of the year) and the Phillies piled on a few more runs in the 6th inning with a little help from the D-backs infield who are still working on the fundamentals of fielding a baseball. The Phils now hold a 7 game lead on the Braves and Marlins in the NL East and are 57-40 on the year. Tonight lefty Cole Hamels(6-5) battles the D-backs ace Dan Haren(10-5). Another late night summer game for all of us Phillies fans....doesn't get much better.
