Phils offense quiet and lose 3-2, head home to face the Bravos

J.A. Happ pitched 8 solid innings last night but gave up a 2 run homer to Garrett Jones in the bottom of the 8th, which would cost the Phils the win and taking the series against the other Pennsylvania baseball team. Happ let up a lead off home run against a impressive rookie Andrew McCutchen which tied the game at 1 after the first. He then settled down and pitched great until the 8th, he struck out 4 and let up 7 hits. But it wasn't enough as the bats were quiet for the Fightins and could only muster up 2 runs, Rollins scoring in the 1st and a solo shot by catcher Paul Bako in the 2nd. The Pirates end up winning the series 2-1 and now the Phillies head back to Philly for a big series with the Braves. The Phils still hold a 7 game lead in the NL East over the Braves and Marlins but would still like to distance themselves from the pack early on and get rested for the postseason. Tonight Pedro Martinez(2-0) makes his 4th start in a Phillies uniform and goes up against talented youngster Tommy Hanson(9-2). Saturday Cliff "the General" Lee will face off against Derek Lowe and Sunday night on ESPN Country Joe Blanton takes on JarJar Binx, I mean Jair Jurrjens. Go Phils.
