Sorry for the delay on some of the posts this weekend but I was away on vacation down in North Carolina. I was wearing a new Eagles hat I recently purchased and some of the hicks...I mean sons of the soil tried to yell at me for the Eagles signing Michael Vick. In true Philly fashion I gave them the middle finger and told them to shut the F*ck up before I throw my beer at their head. Anyway it was a very newsworthy couple of days in the city of brotherly love but lets talk about last nights rain delayed Phils game. J.A. Happ took the mound and proved once again that he is a legit major league starter and will continue to help the champs in their quest to repeat this year. Happ threw plenty of junk at the Braves and went 7.2 innings allowing 3 hits and only 1 run. The Phillies realized that you don't need to put Brad Lidge in the game until he only needs one out, so he recorded an easy save(Thank God). The lone run producer for the Fightins was none other then #6 Ryan Howard as he hit 2 bombs last night, a solo shot in the 2nd and then a 3 run blast in the 6th to go 3 for 3 on the night with 4 ribbies. Throughout his entire professional career the big guy always seems to get hot in August & September and whips up home runs like a diner whips up pancakes. Howard now has 30 homers, 91 rbi's and is batting .269 for the year. Keep it up big man.
The Phillies have a off day Monday but they return home for a 3 game set with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Making his CBP debut is none other then Pedro Martinez(1-0) against Jon Garland(6-10) Tuesday night. Wednesday night should be a doozie with 2 aces on the mound Dan Haren & Cliff Lee battling it out. The series ends on Thursday evening with Country Joe Blanton(7-6) facing off against Doug Davis(7-10). Then its off to shiti field for a 4 game series with the Mets that should have meant something but the Metroplitans just aren't that good this year.
